About this award
The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) awarded a $675,000 Cooperative Agreement to Alliance For Hope International under the OVW Technical Assistance (TA) Initiative (CFDA 16.526). Through this 3-year project, Alliance For Hope International will provide multi-disciplinary training and technical assistance to OVW grantees and subgrantees to support their efforts in addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Key activities will include conducting trainings, developing resources and courses, hosting focus groups, sharing webinars, and maintaining the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention website. This initiative aims to build the capacity of the criminal justice system and victim service organizations to respond effectively to violence against women and foster partnerships between stakeholders.
Description
The office on violence against women (OVW) training and technical assistance (TA) initiative provides OVW grantees and subgrantees with the expertise and support they need to develop and implement successful state, local, tribal, and campus projects; increase victim safety; and bolster offender accountability. Through cooperative agreements, OVW supports educational initiatives, conferences, peer-to-peer consultations, and targeted assistance that allow current and potential grantees and subgrantees to learn from experts and one another about how to overcome obstacles and incorporate promising practices in their efforts to address violence against women. In addition, OVW is focused on building the capacity of the criminal and civil justice systems and victim service organizations to respond effectively to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking and to foster partnerships between organizations that have not traditionally worked together to address violence against women. With FY 2023 TA initiative funding, alliance for hope international's training institute on strangulation prevention will implement the identifying, investigating and prosecuting strangulation cases project. Over the course of the project period, alliance for hope international will provide multi-disciplinary training and technical assistance, provide trainings, disseminate information, develop new products and courses, host focus groups, share recorded webinars, and maintain the training institute on strangulation preventions website. This project supports FY 2023 TA initiative purpose area 30: strangulation. This award is a continuation of 2016-TA-AX-K067.
