About this award

The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) has awarded a $400,000 Cooperative Agreement to Alliance For Hope International to implement the Training and Technical Assistance Initiative for Family Justice Centers (FJC) project. This 2-year project, starting on October 1, 2023, will provide training and technical assistance to OVW grantees and subgrantees on the development and implementation of multi-agency, multidisciplinary victim service centers, including FJC models, to address domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The project will conduct introductory orientations, webinars, in-person and virtual trainings including a boot camp, host FJC director and advocate calls, organize annual leadership summits, create resources and toolkits, host podcasts, and convene the National Voices Survivor Advocacy Network summits. This award supports the OVW Technical Assistance Initiative (CFDA 16.526) program, which aims to strengthen the capacity of criminal justice and victim service organizations to effectively respond to violence against women.

Description

The office on violence against women (OVW) training and technical assistance (TA) initiative provides OVW grantees and subgrantees with the expertise and support they need to develop and implement successful state, local, tribal, and campus projects; increase victim safety; and bolster offender accountability. Through cooperative agreements, OVW supports educational initiatives, conferences, peer-to-peer consultations, and targeted assistance that allow current and potential grantees and subgrantees to learn from experts and one another about how to overcome obstacles and incorporate promising practices in their efforts to address violence against women. In addition, OVW is focused on building the capacity of the criminal and civil justice systems and victim service organizations to respond effectively to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking and to foster partnerships between organizations that have not traditionally worked together to address violence against women. With FY 2023 TA initiative funding, alliance for hope international will implement the training and technical assistance initiative for family justice centers (FJC) project. This project will provide training and technical assistance on the development and implementation of multi-agency, multidisciplinary victim service centers, including FJC models, designed to meet the needs of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking victims. Over the course of the project period, alliance for hope international will conduct introductory orientations with FJC and other multi-agency victim service center planning teams, conduct webinars, present in-person and/or virtual trainings including a boot camp training for fjcs and multi-agency victim service centers, host FJC director and advocate calls, host annual in-person or virtual FJC leadership summit, create resources and toolkits, host podcasts, and host the national VOICES survivor advocacy network (VOICES) in-person and/or virtual summits. This project supports FY 2023 TA initiative purpose area 29: training and technical assistance for CO-located service centers. This award is a continuation of 15JOVW-21-GK-02213-mumu.
