Description

The office on violence against women (OVW) training and technical assistance (TA) initiative provides OVW grantees and subgrantees with the expertise and support they need to develop and implement successful state, local, tribal, and campus projects; increase victim safety; and bolster offender accountability. Through cooperative agreements, OVW supports educational initiatives, conferences, peer-to-peer consultations, and targeted assistance that allow current and potential grantees and subgrantees to learn from experts and one another about how to overcome obstacles and incorporate promising practices in their efforts to address violence against women. In addition, OVW is focused on building the capacity of the criminal and civil justice systems and victim service organizations to respond effectively to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking and to foster partnerships between organizations that have not traditionally worked together to address violence against women. With FY 2023 TA initiative funding, the national council of juvenile and family court judges (ncjfcj) will implement the TA2TA collaborative conferences project, which will support OVW and OVW TA providers by providing logistical and programmatic support for additional events not currently supported under the current ncjfcj TA2TA award. During the course of the project period, ncjfcj will: 1) coordinate with the national center on abuse in later life and OVW to convene an abuse in later life conference; 2) coordinate with futures without violence and OVW to convene two 25TH anniversary national judicial institute on domestic violence events; 3) collaborate with OVW to convene one all TA provider meeting; 4) conduct two to four in-person and/or virtual roundtables on emerging, complex, and priority issues in the violence against women field; and 5) host virtual FY 2024 new grantee orientations (ngos), as well as coordinate two to three in-person ngos. This is a special award in FY 2023 to support the ncjfcj TA2TA project and is focused solely on developing and implementing training events not currently covered in the current TA2TA award and is requested by OVW and the OVW TA providers.
