Description
The JAG program is governed by the JAG board, consisting of 17 voting and non-voting members, and represents a cross section of oklahoma state and federal criminal justice agencies. The JAG board leverages federal funding to best allocate state resources to meet oklahoma's most pressing needs, including controlling drug trafficking, reducing violent crime, and focusing on the most serious offenders. The JAG board and DAC staff have prepared a five-year strategic plan that maps out the goals and objectives of the JAG board and controls the JAG grant spending through the end of 2025. In accordance with the foregoing objectives, the following broad program categories are expected to be funded: 1) multi-jurisdictional drug and violent crime task forces; 2) gang-related enforcement and prosecution projects; 3) drug treatment of incarcerated criminals in the residential area; 4) drug treatment guidance programs; 5) programs that help abused children, and 6) equipment for local law enforcement. For the 2021/2023 grant round, the JAG board awarded 12 multitasking task forces, one residential-corrections-based drug treatment program, two gang-related prosecution projects, and one project to find and organize all evidence related to violent crimes.
