About this award
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration will utilize $127,848 from the FY2022 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program, administered by the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance, to continue developing a new sex offender registry system and supporting SORNA compliance efforts through July 2024. Specifically, the funding will support reconstructing and rebuilding CENSOR 2, a new in-house customized sex offender registry management system. The Arkansas Crime Information Center will receive a sub-award to administer the system, which aims to improve data collection, tracking, retrieval, and electronic notification capabilities for local law enforcement. The goal is to create a more user-friendly system that facilitates mapping, national information updates, and file transfers while addressing issues with the prior system and moving Arkansas closer to substantial SORNA compliance. Development of the new CENSOR 2 system is expected to take multiple years to complete utilizing these FY2022 reallocation grant funds.
