The Department of the Interior National Park Service Southeast Region awarded a purchase order to Richmond Tree Experts GA LLC for $468,295.00 on September 24, 2026, under a Total Small Business Set-Aside for hazard tree removal and clearing at Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Work is performed in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, spanning Blount and Sevier Counties, Tennessee, and Swain County, North Carolina, across 13 designated road segments and multiple scenic vista locations. The contractor removes hazard trees bearing major defects within 50 to 100 feet of roadways and campsites; clears road prisms to restore sight distances through selective vegetation removal; and performs vista clearing by removing trees and tall-growing shrubs within specified depths, treating stumps with herbicide. All trees over 6 inches diameter with potential bat habitat must be removed between November 15 and March 31. An ISA Board Certified Master Arborist must be on-site during all tree work. Service Contract Act wage determinations apply for Tennessee and North Carolina, effective May 13, 2026. Performance runs through September 27, 2027, with options available for up to six months additional extension.
