NOAA awarded a purchase order to Federon Procurement Solutions for $69,500 on September 22, 2026, under a Total Small Business set-aside, to decommission the Montlake Radiation Program at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle, Washington.
Work is performed at 2725 Montlake Boulevard East, Seattle, Washington 98115. The contractor disposes of radioactive waste in five 55-gallon drums and miscellaneous containers holding tritium, carbon-14, and iodine-125 (total inventory approximately 5.2 millicuries); decommissions four radiological equipment pieces including two PerkinElmer TriCarb Liquid Scintillation Counters, one gamma counter, and a Thermo Niton lead-based paint XRF analyzer; removes and disposes of 300 to 500 pounds of lead shielding; characterizes and disposes of mixed waste containing organic solvents; and conducts radiological surveys per MARSSIM Class 3 methodology and ANSI/HPS N13.12-2013 clearance criteria to support NRC license termination under NRC License No. 46-06377-04 Amendment 45.
