About this award

This is a delivery order awarded by the Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA) to The Aerospace Corporation, a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), for specialized engineering, evaluation, and test services related to the ICESat-2 satellite mission. The contract, valued at $80,149.19, supports revising the Laser Reference System (LRS) star catalog, including investigating potential improvements to star magnitude data, blending models, and regenerating the catalog. The Aerospace Corporation will provide multidisciplinary engineering services, testing, and evaluation to assist the ICESat-2 project. This work is being performed under The Aerospace Corporation's existing $709 million NASA IDIQ contract, which enables the company to deliver specialized technical support across NASA's human spaceflight, science, and technology initiatives. The contract does not have a set-aside designation.

Description

Icesat 2 star catalog revision specialized engineering, evaluation and test services (seets II) to select an improved spectral model for the laser reference system (LRS) sensitivity to STARS in the source catalog. The selected model should be documented in a short technical note. The icesat-2 project has decided to revise the laser reference system (LRS) specific star catalog, implementing some of the reviewers recommendations to mitigate associated risks to ground processing of flight data. To provide support to investigate potential improvements in the star magnitudes to support secondary confirmation of star identification. To provide support to select an improved blending model for the laser reference system (LRS) he windowing effects. To provide support to regenerate the laser reference system (LRS) star catalog . To provide support to compare the resulting new laser reference system (LRS) star catalog. The contractor shall provide on/off-site project and multidisciplinary engineering services, independent testing, contractor-on-site monitoring, and independent evaluation of projects and/or programs, including cost, schedule, and affordability analyses, in any phase of the life-cycle. The contractor shall also provide leadership or staffing for focused science and technology studies, advanced systems architecture, systems engineering and independent reviews of all above activities pursuant to task orders issued by the contracting officer. These services shall include the personnel, facilities, and materials (unless otherwise provided by the government) to accomplish the tasks.
