About this award

This federal contract award, with an ID of NNG11VH00B|NNG13VN43T, was issued by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Center to The Aerospace Corporation, a non-profit federally funded research and development center (FFRDC). The $2,522,266.32 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract provides specialized engineering, evaluation, and test services to support the development and verification of operational algorithms for the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) ground data processing segment and field terminal segment. The contractor will provide subject matter expertise, project monitoring, and coordination to ensure the correct production of JPSS operational data products in support of data products engineering and algorithm development activities. This contract is not designated as a set-aside. The Mitre Corporation, another non-profit FFRDC, was awarded multiple subcontracts under this vehicle to provide additional engineering support services.

Description

Funds for jpss-ground data products engineer support. Acquisition of specialized engineering, evaluation and test services for the NASA jpss data products groups related to the development and verification of jpss CGS operational algorithms under DPA and DPE. The contractor shall provide engineering subject matter expertise and project monitoring communication and coordination both within the jpss project and with external providers to assure correct production of jpss ground interface data processing segment (IDPS) and field terminal segment (FTS) operational data products in support of the data products engineering (DPE) and DPA activities provide engineering technical subject matter expertise in jpss algorithm integration processes for the IDPS/FTS operational science algorithms. Assess severity of reported discrepancies and advise data products leadership of technical impact. Assist in the documentation of algorithms and technical reports such as algorithm theoretical basis documents (ATBDS), operational algorithm documents (OADS), technical reports, and data guides. Work with the DPE algorithm integration team (AIT) to facilitate interaction between the investigators and the jpss ground project systems and processes and assist investigators in the use of jpss ground project systems and processes. Assist the algorithm and validation teams in integration and operation of algorithm support function (ASF) and calibration/validation and long term monitoring (LTM) tools. Assist validating the operation science products including the viirs cloud mask, the jpss direct readout products and other software delivered for the algorithm science teams. Design and develop analytical techniques and procedures to perform independent assessment of contractor perform. Provide, as needed, expertise in the physical sciences including atmospheric and space physics, communications and networking, computers and software, systems engineering sensor modeling support. Interface as needed, with integrated product teams, users liaisons and international liaisons to assist in the clarification of requirements, system interface definition, interface compliance and overall system requirements satisfaction.
