About this award
The Aerospace Corporation was awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery order contract valued at $914,206.88 by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center to provide mission systems engineering support to the Astrophysics Program. The contract, awarded on August 1, 2011, with an ultimate completion date of September 30, 2019, requires The Aerospace Corporation to deliver comprehensive technical oversight and coordination across multiple dimensions of the program's engineering activities. Primary deliverables include technical reviews of major system trades and study efforts, coordination of systems engineering activities among government agencies and contractors, project documentation reviews, support for configuration control board processes, requirements development assistance, and participation in risk management and technical review boards. The Aerospace Corporation, a non-profit federally funded research and development center headquartered in El Segundo, California, is well-positioned to execute this work given its location at the place of performance and its extensive experience providing systems engineering and technical assurance services across NASA's space programs.
The contract scope encompasses monthly technical progress reports, post-review documentation, attendance at weekly and monthly status meetings, preparation of presentation materials for major reviews including System Specification Review, System Definition Review, Preliminary Design Review, and Critical Design Review, and completion of parametric trade studies as requested. The contractor will also provide inputs into the development of systems engineering plans, program plans, risk management plans, requirements documentation, technical budgets, and technical performance measures across all program levels. No set-aside designation was applied to this delivery order contract, reflecting the specialized nature of the systems engineering support required for this NASA astrophysics initiative.
