About this award

This federal contract award is for the Plankton, Aerosols, Cloud, Ocean Ecosystems (PACE) mission, which will provide the most comprehensive global combined ocean-atmosphere measurements in NASA's history. The Goddard Space Flight Center has awarded this cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery order contract to The Aerospace Corporation, a non-profit federally funded research and development center, to provide systems engineering, operations, and technical management support, as well as specialized engineering services, for the PACE instrument procurement, integration, testing, and anomaly investigation. This $49,963.57 contract does not have a set-aside designation and is part of The Aerospace Corporation's broader technical support across civil, defense, and commercial space programs through various federal contract vehicles and grant awards.

Description

The plankton, aerosols, cloud, ocean ecosystems (pace) mission will deliver the most comprehensive global combined ocean-atmosphere measurements in NASA's history. Not only will pace monitor the health of our ocean and its living marine resources, IT will provide (extensive measurements of aerosols (tiny airborne particles) and clouds. The pace mission will ultimately unveil a variety of new products to aid the understanding of the atmosphere and ocean and their roles in earth's changing climate. Pace is being implemented by the goddard space flight center who will design and build the ocean color instrument (OCI), as well as maintain responsibility for project management, safety and mission assurance, mission operations and ground systems, launch vehicle / spacecraft / instrument payload integration and testing, OCI calibration, validation, and science data processing. In order to assure the success of the pace development, gsfc requires systems engineering, operations and technical management support as well as specialized engineering support services for technical and science developments in support of instrument procurement, integration, testing and anomaly investigation activities.
