About this award
This contract was awarded by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to Core Technologies, LLC, a minority-owned small business, under the 8(a) Streamlined Technology Acquisition Resources for Services (8a STARS II) contract vehicle. The contract is for the replacement of an aging and obsolete video wall system that supports the 24/7 security operations at the SSA's Second Support Center facility in Durham, North Carolina. The contract has a ceiling value of $245,437.23 and a period of performance that will last 7-10 years, allowing the new video wall system to integrate with future security capabilities such as Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) and advanced video control software. This contract award is intended to provide the SSA with a reliable and technologically current security management system for its critical facilities.
Description
The second support center (SSC) security control center in durham, NC has an existing mitsubishi 12 cube rear projection video wall which supports the on-site 24/7/365 security operations. The video wall displays key live streams of selected video surveillance of the SSC facility. This video wall is integrated into the lenel physical access control system, alarm monitoring, and security video surveillance systems. IT also is a component in the intelligent video system which results in a reduction in security guard staffing and cost. The mitsubishi video wall equipment has surpassed its end-of-life cycle, and the equipment for this video wall is no longer available. The system is now obsolete, and no components and repair parts are manufactured or available for purchase in the marketplace. Regular operational failures are occurring on the video wall and our maintenance efforts will not be able to keep IT operational much more than a year, we estimate. Concerns over support and service for this critical security management system results in a need to replace this aging and increasingly failing system with current technology which can maintain 24/7/365 days a year operations. The current system has lasted over seven years. We have designed the proposed video wall statement of work to last the next 7-10 years and will be capable of integrating with additional future capabilities such as psim and advanced video control software. OAG (division director syreeta GAY) has agreed to work with US on this project. For additional information on this issue, please contact bill graves at 877-897-0598, OPT1, EXT. 10564.
