Description
The purpose of the computation core task is to provide computational and algorithm development support for data fusion and integration of existing cellular and animal molecular/genomic data for heavy ION exposures with cancer phenotypes, to develop associative models of risk based on pathway activation and dimensional reduction and data transformations, to develop and validate algorithms for data fusion and integration of molecular/genomic data spawned in heavy ION experiments in the context of tissue damage, cell-cycle, cellular apoptosis and survival, cellular stressresponse, DNA damage-repair, and angiogenesis and neovascularization associated with the seeding of new metastasis, to develop biologically-motivated kinetic models of space radiation-induced carcinogenesis based on cellular growth and pathway activation, and to provide guidance on experimental criteria for reducing risk uncertainty. During the base year, the computation core will focus on development of the data repository and electronic library describing its contents, and on development of kinetic models of carcinogenesis hinged to cellular and animal data.
