Virginia Foundation For Agriculture, Innovation & Rural Sustainability, operating as Virginia Fairs, is a tax-exempt non-profit organization headquartered in Henrico, Virginia, that has been registered to receive federal awards since August 2005. The organization serves as a Cooperative Development Center dedicated to supporting rural economic development across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region through technical assistance, training, and business support services. Virginia Fairs hosts and facilitates workshops, meetings, and conferences addressing topics such as value-added food processing and marketing, agritourism, business management, public and private financing options, and rural economic development opportunities. The organization creates educational resources and case studies available to the public while providing networking opportunities to engage current and future agriculturalists. Additionally, Virginia Fairs has received funding from the Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service for the Farm to School Grant Program, which facilitates the introduction of locally produced foods in schools. Through these grant-funded initiatives, the organization aims to increase market opportunities for rural Virginia businesses, support rural employment, ensure production of healthy and safe food, protect America's food supply, and inspire production innovation across agricultural and cooperative sectors.
