About The Southwest Research And Information Center
The Southwest Research and Information Center (SRIC) is a non-profit organization that provides environmental health services to tribal communities through federal grants, focused on assessing and reducing health impacts and disparities related to environmental contamination. SRIC has received multiple federal sub-awards to conduct activities such as environmental sampling, exposure assessments, community health assessments, recruitment for health interventions, translation of research findings, and community engagement related to environmental health studies performed by the University of New Mexico. These have been funded through NIH and EPA programs and involved SRIC collaboration with local tribal governments. SRIC's role is often to serve as a liaison between university researchers and tribal communities by facilitating study implementation, conveying research objectives, supporting participant recruitment and data collection, and assisting with translation of findings in culturally appropriate ways.
