About the company

Summit Land Management Inc. is a self-certified small disadvantaged business located in Coarsegold, California, registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and operating as a for-profit Subchapter S Corporation. The company specializes in providing land management services to federal agencies, with a primary focus on supporting the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service across multiple regions in California. Their core competencies include vegetation management, habitat restoration, trails maintenance, fuels reduction, and emergency response services related to wildland firefighting and land stewardship.

Through multiple federal contract awards, Summit Land Management Inc. has consistently provided land management services primarily to the Forest Service's Pacific Southwest Region (Region 5). Their delivery orders, typically ranging from $20,000 to $122,590, involve comprehensive land management tasks such as vegetation treatments, habitat restoration, trail maintenance, and fuels reduction across various national forests in California, including Eldorado, Inyo, Klamath, Lassen, and others. These contracts are predominantly firm fixed-price delivery orders and are not set aside for specific business categories, though the company itself is a self-certified small disadvantaged business. The contracts demonstrate the company's expertise in supporting federal land management objectives through precise, targeted service delivery.

Summit Land Management Inc. holds several critical Indefinite Delivery Contracts (IDCs) with the National Interagency Fire Center, primarily focused on providing heavy equipment and associated services for wildland firefighting and emergency response. These IDCs, which have ceiling values of $250,000, cover Regions 3, 5, and 6 and are set aside for small businesses. The contracts enable the company to supply miscellaneous heavy equipment such as feller bunchers, mulchers, masticators, road graders, and skidders, along with operators, maintenance, transportation, and lodging support. These IDVs position Summit Land Management as a strategic partner in emergency incident response, with the ability to quickly mobilize equipment and personnel for fire suppression and all-hazard incident management across multiple western U.S. regions.

SBA capabilities narrative

We are a general engineering forestry contractor located in the Sierra Nevada foothills of central California. Our focus is forest fuels reduction for fire prevention. Using a combination of dedicated masticating, tracked heavy equipment and tracked forestry boom machines with masticating heads, excess woody material is mulched into the soil creating space between healthy trees and a more fire resistant landscape.

After a 35+ year career with CalFire and more than a decade as a general engineering contractor, we understand fire behavior. Since 1982 our expertise has been vegetation density, ladder fuels, slope, erosion control, soil health, topography and weather as they relate to fire behavior in the Sierra Nevada.

Our goal is to responsibly manage our forests and rangelands while preserving nature and creating safer communities. We are woman owned and a California Small Business.
