About the company
Seniorsplus is a private non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of older people and adults with disabilities in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford counties in Maine. As the designated Area Agency on Aging and Aging & Disability Resource Center for those three counties, Seniorsplus provides a range of community-based programs and support systems for older individuals, their families, and caregivers.
Through a prime federal grant award from the Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Community Living, Seniorsplus has implemented the Dementia Capable Maine program to support caregivers and people with dementia. Seniorsplus has also received over 30 federal sub grant awards, largely from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, to carry out provisions of the Older Americans Act related to coordinating community-based services for seniors. Specific programs supported through these sub grants include in-home care, caregiver respite and support services, health insurance counseling, assistance with Medicare applications, and outreach to isolated seniors.
