About the company
Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute is a non-profit organization that connects people and communities to the environment through community organizing, education, and ecosystem restoration. As a tax-exempt corporate entity registered in SAM.gov since 2004, Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute has received federal grants to provide environmental education services and opportunities, as well as conduct environmental restoration activities.
Through prime and sub federal grants from the Department of Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service and the State of Idaho's Department of Labor, Department of Environmental Quality, and Species Conservation Office, Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute has provided AmeriCorps members to serve as environmental educators and restoration technicians. These AmeriCorps members have engaged over 6,000 Idaho residents in environmental stewardship education and leveraged over 600 volunteers for community outreach events and hands-on ecosystem improvement projects. Specific ecosystem restoration activities conducted under these grants include stabilizing eroded stream banks, increasing woody debris and habitat complexity for steelhead, establishing native riparian buffers along degraded waterways to improve water quality and temperature, removing invasive species, and native grass, tree and shrub planting.
