Opetushallitus

Opetushallitus, a Finnish government entity registered in SAM.gov, is the National Agency for Education in Finland. Located in Helsinki, this organization is primarily focused on educational development, research, and international cooperation. As a foreign government structure, Opetushallitus has been actively engaged in cross-border educational initiatives, particularly with the United States, as evidenced by its federal grant award history.

Through its federal grant awards from the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Opetushallitus has consistently pursued transatlantic educational collaboration and mobility programs. The organization has been awarded multiple project grants focused on sharing educational expertise and increasing mobility between the United States and Finland. These grants, ranging from the Finland-U.S. Future Leaders Program to the Transatlantic Classroom initiative, demonstrate a strategic approach to fostering educational exchanges and professional development. The grants, awarded between 2020 and 2024, have supported small-scale projects including virtual cooperation and short-term exchanges, with project completion dates extending through August 2026. Each grant has been structured as a project grant, indicating a targeted and time-limited approach to international educational partnerships that likely involve coordinating academic and professional interactions between Finnish and American educational institutions and professionals.
