About the company
Friends Of The Court Understanding Through Sharing NA Division (DBA Focus) is a non-profit organization dedicated to changing the lives of abused and neglected children. Focus recruits, screens, trains, and supports community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of these children in court proceedings, with the goal of promoting safe, permanent homes through advocacy, socialization, and education.
Through past federal grant sub-awards from the Department of Criminal Justice Services Virginia, Focus has provided court-appointed special advocate (CASA) services for abused and neglected children in the Virginia Twenty-First Judicial Circuit (Martinsville, Henry and Patrick counties). These CASA services involve training citizen volunteers who are appointed to court cases involving abused/neglected children. The volunteers advocate for the best interests of the children throughout the court proceedings. In addition to volunteer training, Focus provides program management, recruitment, screening, and support for the volunteers advocating for abused and neglected children in these Virginia counties.
