About the company
Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region (CISDR) is a non-profit organization founded in 1985 to address the growing number of high school dropouts in Dallas and surrounding areas. CISDR works directly with at-risk students on school campuses through programs and services aimed at keeping students in school.
Through various federal grants, CISDR provides academic enrichment and support services to disadvantaged students. CISDR has received multiple 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program grants as a subrecipient to the Texas Education Agency. These grants support after-school programs that help students meet academic standards in reading, math, and other subjects. Services also include enrichment activities, literacy programs for families, and creating community learning centers. Additionally, CISDR has delivered targeted academic support, tutoring, and after-school programming to accelerate student learning through the Texas Learning Acceleration Supports (TCLAS) program. The TCLAS program was also administered by the Texas Education Agency.
