About Civil Society Institute
Civil Society Institute (CSI) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization providing technical assistance and advisory services to support economic reform and development projects funded by the U.S. government and other donors. According to its website, CSI was established in 1994 as a business law department at the International Center for Economic Reform and Development in Georgia, before becoming an independent organization in 1996.
Through federal subcontract awards, CSI has provided technical assistance to prime contractor Ard Inc. in support of the Local Government Project (LGP) and Governance for Growth Initiative (GGI). This assistance has included helping to implement economic growth and governance reform projects funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. The subcontracts have enabled CSI to provide on-the-ground expertise related to strengthening democratic institutions, rule of law, anti-corruption measures, fiscal decentralization, civil society oversight, and private sector growth in developing countries.
