About the company
AmericaView is a non-profit organization that empowers Earth Observation Education through satellite data access for research, education, and societal benefits. It has been a registered corporate entity eligible for federal awards since 2007. AmericaView drives progress in remote sensing and Earth observation through education, outreach, workforce development, and technology transfer initiatives.
Through prime federal contracts, AmericaView has provided services related to orthorectification of scanned aerial photography to the Department of Agriculture's National Resources Conservation Service. These contracts involved processing high-altitude aerial photographs to produce orthorectified imagery for specific areas of interest in Alaska. The contracts were awarded through purchase orders, without any set-aside designations.
AmericaView has received a significant federal Project Grant from the Department of the Interior's U.S. Geological Survey under the National Land Remote Sensing Education Outreach and Research program. This $1,477,500 grant, awarded for a 5-year period from 2023 to 2028, supports AmericaView's national network of StateView partners in 41 U.S. states. Key activities include developing specialized remote sensing tools and resources for educators, facilitating conferences and workshops, promoting remote sensing education across all learning levels, and fostering collaboration between academic institutions, government entities, and the public. The expected outcomes are improved usability and adoption of remote sensing products and applications, as well as increasing the number and visibility of graduating students with remote sensing skills.
