This Formula Grant award from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services provides $26.9 million to support the Michigan Department of Education's administration of the state's early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families from July 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023. The funding supports the state's implementation of the federal Special Education-Grants for Infants and Families program (CFDA #84.181), which aims to make available early intervention services through statewide, coordinated systems. The majority of the funding ($26.3 million) is distributed through subawards to 57 intermediate school districts and regional educational service agencies across Michigan to deliver early intervention direct services at the local level through the state's Early On program. Other subawards provide for administration of the program by the Michigan Health and Human Services and for related data collection and evaluation activities. The award aims to help infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families receive the support and services needed to enhance child development.
