About this program
The Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement funds projects that promote gender equity in education and support institutional compliance with Title IX through CFDA 84.083, with the most recent grant award dated October 1, 2009—17 years ago.
This program is inactive for new funding purposes. No grant awards have been disbursed since 2009, and no current grant opportunities are open. The portfolio reflects historical activity only: 49 total Project Grants awarded between 2001 and 2009, with the most active periods in 2002 and 2009 (12 and 13 awards respectively). Combined federal dollars obligated totaled $14.4 million across the portfolio.
The program funded implementation projects addressing educational equity for women and girls experiencing multiple forms of discrimination based on sex, race, ethnicity, limited English proficiency, disability, or age. Recent representative awards from the 2009 cohort included Project Grant U083A090055 for $394,321, Project Grant U083A090025 for $371,519, and Project Grant U083A090064 for $429,241. Earlier rounds from 2006 included larger awards such as Project Grant U083A050076 for $869,246 and Project Grant U083A050104 for $839,424. All 49 awards in the portfolio were structured as Project Grants, with individual award values ranging from approximately $15 thousand to $869 thousand. The Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement was the sole funding source across all awards.
The program appears to have concluded its grant-making activities after 2009 with no solicitations or awards in the past 17 years. Organizations should not pursue this program unless evidence of reactivation becomes available.
