The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) was awarded a $1,900,000 Project Grant by the U.S. Department of Transportation Immediate Office of the Secretary under the Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) Grants Program (CFDA 20.941). The purpose of this 18-month award is to deploy and test smart infrastructure technology in College Station, Texas to improve intersection safety and mobility for vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, and those with mobility and visual disabilities. The project involves using cellular-vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) units at intersections in conjunction with on-board units in transit and emergency response vehicles.
