The Department of Transportation awarded a $30.1 million Project Grant on August 30, 2022 to the Commonwealth of Kentucky under the National Infrastructure Investments (RAISE) program. The grant funding will support improvements to freight mobility and reduce congestion on US Route 25W from KY Route 727 to KY Route 3041 through capital investments in surface transportation infrastructure. Specifically, the RAISE grant portion will fund work to improve a 17-mile segment of US 25W in Whitley County, Kentucky. As one of the largest infrastructure grant awards made by the DOT that year through the competitive RAISE program, the funding will help advance an important regional freight corridor enhancement project led by the Commonwealth.
