About this program

The Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) advances public safety through the COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program (CAMP, CFDA 16.072) by funding state law enforcement agencies to investigate illicit methamphetamine manufacturing and distribution activities, with a competitive grant opportunity posted June 9, 2026 and closed July 23, 2026.

Nine Project Grants totaling $14.7 million in federal dollars were awarded on October 1, 2025, representing the most recent grant round. Awards range from approximately $1.1 million to $2 million per recipient and are structured as three-year grants with possible extensions of up to twelve additional months on a case-by-case basis. Individual recent awards include $1.833 million (15JCOPS25GG00742METH), $1.999 million (15JCOPS25GG00746METH), and $2 million (15JCOPS25GG00740MUMU), all with completion dates of September 30, 2028.

CAMP funds support location and investigation of precursor chemical diversion, methamphetamine laboratories, and methamphetamine traffickers. Allowable costs include salaries and fringe benefits for new full-time sworn law enforcement officers and civilian positions such as CAMP coordinators and drug analysts; travel and training related to CAMP conferences and technical assistance; equipment, technology, and supplies directly supporting the grant project; and procurement contracts and consultants. Funds may not support clandestine laboratory cleanup, treatment programs, or prosecution activities.

Eligibility is restricted to state law enforcement agencies in states with high seizures of precursor chemicals, finished methamphetamine, laboratories, or laboratory dump sites. The program prioritizes increasing hours devoted to statewide task forces, expanding the number and variety of participating agencies, and enhancing analytical capability. Recipients must submit semiannual programmatic performance reports and quarterly federal financial reports, and remain subject to COPS Office monitoring including site visits and alleged noncompliance reviews. All award decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

The FY26 funding opportunity (O-COPS-2026-172565) closed July 23, 2026. No open opportunities are currently listed in the source.
