The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) was awarded a $2,094,835 Formula Grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Wildlife Restoration and Basic Hunter Education and Safety program (CFDA 15.611) for the period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. The grant supports CDFW's Central Region Wildlife Management Program, which is responsible for wildlife management activities across 12 counties in California's Central Valley and Coast Range regions. The funding will enable CDFW to collect and analyze wildlife population and habitat data, manage and conserve game birds and mammals, provide technical assistance to other agencies, conduct public outreach, and facilitate public access to wildlife areas and resources. This grant aligns with the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act's objectives to restore, conserve, manage, and enhance wild birds and mammals and their habitats, as well as support hunter education and safety initiatives.
