About this program
The Department of Housing and Urban Development Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development funded Community Development Block Grants for Hawaii non-entitlement areas under American Recovery and Reinvestment Act authority (CFDA 14.255), with the most recent grant award dated September 1, 2009.
This program has not disbursed new grants in over seventeen years. The portfolio consists of 31 Formula Grants totaling $152.8 million in federal dollars obligated, awarded in two tranches: 18 awards in October 2008 and 13 awards in September 2009. No recent grant opportunities are currently posted.
The program funds community development activities including infrastructure improvements, energy efficiency initiatives, job creation and retention, and assistance to unemployed persons. Activities must principally benefit low and moderate income persons or address slum and blight elimination or urgent community development needs where other financial resources are unavailable. Awards carried completion dates of August 31, 2009 or September 30, 2009, indicating these were time-limited Recovery Act disbursements.
All 31 awards were Formula Grants, distributed across state administrative and HUD administrative accounts. Individual award amounts ranged from approximately $537 thousand to $12.9 million. Representative awards include Formula Grant B09DY260001 ($9.5 million), Formula Grant B09DY420001 ($12.4 million), and Formula Grant B09DY390001 ($12.9 million), all obligated in September 2009 for state administrative recovery purposes.
The program operated exclusively under HUD's Community Planning and Development office with no co-funders in the award portfolio.
This Assistance Listing represents a time-limited Recovery Act program that concluded funding nearly two decades ago. No ongoing solicitation activity supports pursuit at this time.
Objective and description
- Objective
