This Cooperative Agreement award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Climate and Atmospheric Research Federal Grant Program (CFDA 11.431) provides $299,922 to Northeastern University and the University of the Virgin Islands to support a joint project focused on advancing climate adaptation and resilience in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The 2-year project aims to: 1) Conduct background research and interviews to establish a resilience baseline assessment for the island community; 2) Facilitate collaborative planning sessions to co-develop climate adaptation pathways with local stakeholders; 3) Implement a hybrid "adaptation clinic" to help the community access external partners and resources; and 4) Share key findings that can guide climate adaptation efforts in other Caribbean island nations. This work responds to the growing risks posed by natural disasters, sea-level rise, and other climate change impacts facing vulnerable island communities.
