About this program
The Department of Agriculture, through its Center for Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, funds capacity-building initiatives for faith and community-based organizations under Assistance Listing 10.889, with the most recent grant award disbursed on September 30, 2023.
The program supports workshops, trainings, and technical assistance for faith leaders addressing farm stress, mental health, food systems transformation, and peer-to-peer mentorship. Funded activities include developing local leader skills and competencies, establishing partnerships with organizations that provide training and technical assistance, and hosting summits and convenings that share outreach strategies with communities nationwide. Award funds are expended directly on outreach and trainings delivered to faith organizations and community leaders.
The portfolio consists of a single Project Grant award to RAFI-USA for $500 thousand, obligated in September 2023 with an ultimate completion date of September 10, 2025. That award received a one-year no-cost extension but was terminated because it no longer effectuates agency priorities. The program shows minimal recent activity—one award in the past three years—with no identifiable award cadence or pattern of ongoing funding cycles. No recent grant opportunities are currently posted or documented in the source.
Faith-based organizations are the eligible applicant category. The program structure is a non-competitive cooperative agreement on a two-year basis. Grant awards are subject to a three-year record-retention requirement from final expenditure report submission.
Given the single award disbursed three years ago and its subsequent termination due to misalignment with current agency priorities, the program presents substantially elevated risk. Prospective applicants should confirm whether the Center for Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships intends to resume solicitations under this Assistance Listing before investing in proposal development.
