About this opportunity
The City of Wisconsin Rapids has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Recreational and Downtown Wayfinding & Signage Project, seeking qualified firms to fabricate and potentially install a comprehensive citywide signage system. The procurement focuses on implementing Phase 1 of a wayfinding program that involves creating park, trail, downtown pedestrian, and parking signs across the city. Deliverables will include various sign types with specific messages and predetermined locations, as outlined in accompanying project attachments. The project is designed to enhance navigation and recreational accessibility in Wisconsin Rapids, a city of approximately 19,000 residents located in the geographic center of Wisconsin. Proposals were due by May 5, 2021, with the original RFP posted on April 15, 2021. Interested firms were expected to demonstrate expertise in signage design, fabrication, and potentially installation, with the ability to follow the detailed wayfinding plan's specifications. The city's unique riverfront and downtown environment will serve as the primary context for the signage system.
While specific set-aside designations were not explicitly detailed in the provided documentation, the RFP appears open to a broad range of professional firms and consultants capable of executing the wayfinding signage project. The procurement covers the geographic jurisdictions of Winnebago County and Wonewoc Village, though the primary focus is the City of Wisconsin Rapids. No incumbent vendors were identified in the available information, and no specific budget range was disclosed. The project represents an opportunity for signage design and fabrication professionals to contribute to a comprehensive urban navigation enhancement initiative. Potential respondents would likely need demonstrated experience in municipal signage systems, graphic design, and potentially site-specific installation capabilities. The project's scope suggests a potentially significant municipal investment in improving visitor and resident navigation and recreational access throughout the city's urban landscape.
