About this opportunity

The City of Austin is issuing Invitation for Quotation (IFQ) 1100 CPG1065 for the procurement of weatherproof copper wire, specifically 1,000 feet of polyethylene-covered, 7-strand, 2/0 gauge copper wire delivered on a non-returnable wood reel with a pressed-in metal hub featuring a 3-1/16 inch arbor hole and tolerances of -0 inches to +1/4 inch. The solicitation identifies approved manufacturers including CME Nehring Electric, Republic Wire, and Southwire as acceptable sources, and offerors must provide manufacturer and part number information in their quotes. All quoted items must meet or exceed City of Austin specifications, and the City reserves the right to determine equivalency. Pricing must be submitted on an FOB Destination basis with all freight charges, handling costs, and applicable discounts included in the total bid amount; the City of Austin is exempt from federal excise and state sales tax, therefore tax must not be included in quoted prices. Quotes must be submitted to christopher.gorski@austintexas.gov by March 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Award will be made to the lowest offer meeting any minimum qualifications stated in the solicitation, and payment will be made within thirty days of receipt of properly documented invoices contingent upon satisfactory delivery of goods.

The City of Austin follows a tiered procurement process wherein initial quotation requests are sent exclusively via email to vendors certified as HUBs (Historically Underutilized Businesses) or M/WBEs (Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprises) through the State of Texas and City of Austin; if adequate quotes are not received from certified vendors, the solicitation will be posted publicly on the City's Austin Finance Online website. All respondents must provide certification that their firm has not been adjudicated for wage theft-related incidents within five years prior to submission and must complete City of Austin Wage Theft Training within thirty days of contract award. Standard terms and conditions apply, including warranty requirements, insurance and indemnification provisions, and compliance with federal and state laws and non-discrimination certifications. If a common carrier is used for shipment, Workers Compensation, Employee Liability, and Business Automobile Liability Insurance requirements are waived. The estimated quantities noted on the bid sheet are not guaranteed purchases by the City, and the City reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time for any reason, including convenience. No specific award value or budget range is disclosed in the solicitation documents.
