About this opportunity

Wilkes County Schools in Georgia is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the design, supply, and installation of a fully functional educational greenhouse to support the district's agricultural education program at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School. The greenhouse will measure 2,160 square feet (30 feet wide by 72 feet long with 8-foot sidewalls) and must be a turnkey solution featuring a galvanized steel frame structure, polycarbonate glazing systems, comprehensive ventilation (two 42-inch exhaust fans and evaporative cooling systems), heating systems (one 250,000 BTU LP gas heater and three horizontal air flow fans), automatic temperature control with touchscreen interface, irrigation systems with mist and drip capabilities, electrical installation (four receptacles and 100-amp breaker box), plumbing (seven spigots and drainage systems), benches, and safety equipment. Proposers must submit a 3-D rendering or detailed sketch showing interior and exterior layout by 4:00 p.m. EST on August 18, 2025, with final proposals due by 4:00 p.m. EST on August 28, 2025. All questions and inquiries must be submitted by August 18, 2025, with responses provided by August 21, 2025. Required qualifications include company history documentation and evidence of at least three similar K-12 educational projects with references, along with descriptions of design and specification processes and project management procedures. Minimum insurance requirements include $1,000,000 in Comprehensive General Liability and Motor Vehicle Liability coverage, plus statutory Worker's Compensation limits, with Wilkes County Schools named as an additional insured. Wilkes County Schools will review proposals for tentative presentation at the September 2025 Board Meeting.

The RFP does not specify set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations eligible to respond, meaning proposals from all qualified vendors appear to be acceptable. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are listed in the procurement documents. The school district will be responsible for site preparation, foundation, flooring, providing 120/240-volt single phase electrical supply, furnishing a minimum 1-inch PVC water supply with 55 PSI pressure, drainage system final connections, gas line installation and hookup, permit acquisition, and dumpster provision. The RFP does not specify a total project budget or pricing terms, leaving the award value undisclosed. Any proposal not withdrawn constitutes an irrevocable offer for 90 days, and Wilkes County Schools reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals, request re-submissions, conduct interviews, and make multiple awards at its sole discretion.
