About this opportunity

The City of Long Beach Department of Financial Management is soliciting bids for welding repairs and services for its vehicle fleet under ITB FM-26-680, with bids due February 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A 10% local preference applies to Long Beach-based businesses that provide current business licenses and seller's permits. The City has issued a Notice of Intent to Award to C.W. Industries, Inc., as the lowest responsive bidder among four received bids, pending execution of a purchase order.

The scope covers welding and fabrication work on medium and heavy-duty vehicles, including refuse units, performed at the contractor's shop and potentially at Fleet Services facilities and other city locations. The contractor must be capable of welding and fabricating stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum in both shop and field settings. The contractor must maintain at least two self-contained welding machines rated at 200 amperes or higher, provide emergency response within one hour during business hours or three hours outside business hours, and furnish oxygen and acetylene when oxyacetylene torch work constitutes less than 10% of total job time. Materials and supplies are the contractor's responsibility unless the City furnishes steel at its discretion.

The initial contract term is two years with options to renew for three additional one-year periods, not to exceed five years total. Payment is due within 30 calendar days of invoice submission. Pricing shall remain firm for the contract term unless the City provides for adjustment. The contractor must carry commercial general liability insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 general aggregate, workers' compensation coverage, and automobile liability insurance with $500,000 combined single limit coverage. A minimum one-year warranty against defective materials and faulty workmanship is required. Questions were due January 15, 2026. Award is expected in March 2026.
