About this opportunity
Long Beach Utilities Department issued an RFQ for fabrication and welding services with quotes due March 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.; a Notice of Intent to Award dated April 11, 2023 names CW Industries as the selected vendor, though this does not constitute a final award.
The contractor must be located within a 20-mile radius of LBU facilities. Services span fabrication, welding, bonding, milling, lathing, threading, tapping, and diagnosis or repair of mechanical instruments across stainless steel, aluminum, brass, plastic, black steel, and titanium. Standard work must be completed within five business days unless approved for extended timelines. For work at LBU facilities or other city locations, response time is two hours. The contractor must provide pickup and delivery services.
The contract period is one year with no renewal options specified. The basis of award is hourly labor rates and specification compliance; LBU reserves discretion to award a single contract or separate contracts for various bid items. Vendors must submit firm hourly rates for journeyman and helper non-journeyman positions at both vendor and LBU/city sites, plus rates for urgent and same-day or next-day delivery work. Rates must remain firm for the entire one-year term with no increases permitted during invoicing. The price quote must be all-inclusive with no additional costs or minimum call-out fees permitted.
The contractor must maintain comprehensive general liability insurance of $1 million combined single limit per occurrence ($2 million aggregate), automobile liability of $500,000 per accident, and California-required workers' compensation with $1 million employers liability limits. All required fabrication and welding licenses must be held. California prevailing wage requirements apply. A minimum one-year warranty on parts and labor is required, with repairs or replacements at no cost to LBU within 24 hours of notification.
