About this opportunity

Allegany College of Maryland is seeking proposals for a Weld Fume Extractor Project at its Western Maryland Works Building, involving the demolition of existing extraction systems and installation of two new weld fume extractor systems. The procurement requires contractors to provide and install one recirculating system serving 12 weld booths and one non-recirculating system specifically for stainless steel welding, which includes associated ductwork, compressed air systems, power and control wiring, and supporting construction work. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for March 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 1 of the Western Maryland Works Building, with sealed bids due by April 4, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Vendors will be evaluated based on price, project experience, and general exclusions, with an anticipated project start date of June 9, 2025. The project requires a 100% performance bond and compliance with Maryland prevailing wage requirements for bids at or above $250,000. Proposals must include comprehensive warranty details, and contractors are encouraged to contact Mr. Adam Phipps, Director of Physical Plant, at 301-784-5262 for additional information.

The contract opportunity does not specify explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The project is contingent upon grant funding approval, and the contract will not be awarded until grant funds are secured. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are mentioned in the documentation. While a specific budget range is not provided, the complexity of the project involving two separate weld fume extraction systems suggests a substantial investment. The college reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and may negotiate with the firm deemed to be in the best interest of the institution. Potential bidders should note that the final selection will be based on a comprehensive assessment of the proposal's merits, with a focus on technical capability, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with the college's specific requirements for the welding laboratory infrastructure.
