About this opportunity

The New York Power Authority is requesting proposals for a Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) solution, with proposals due August 7, 2026. The procurement follows a two-step evaluation process: qualification and shortlisting for a 30-day proof-of-concept trial, followed by final vendor selection.

NYPA's Cyber Security Operations team currently deploys cloud-native solutions and traditional network firewalls to protect external-facing resources. The Authority seeks to consolidate and modernize this approach through a sophisticated software solution that reduces exposure risk, closes coverage gaps, and strengthens security posture in alignment with organizational risk-management goals.

The evaluation committee will review qualification proposals against criteria including quality and alignment to NYPA needs, project history (with particular emphasis on projects completed in New York State), vendor qualifications, and solution quality. The committee may schedule oral interviews and product demonstrations (virtual or in-person at the Authority's White Plains Office) to clarify vendor responses. All key members of the vendor team must attend.

Following the qualification phase, NYPA will shortlist qualified suppliers to conduct a 30-day proof-of-concept trial. Initial costs for the POC may be provided by the Authority. The evaluation committee will assess POC performance before making a final vendor recommendation.

The procurement carries no stated set-asides or local-vendor preferences. No contract value, contract term, or incumbent is identified in the notice. Questions due and pre-proposal conference dates are not specified.
