About this opportunity

The St. Marys County Metropolitan Commission is requesting bids for painting maintenance and repairs on three water storage tanks, with bids due June 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. EST and a mandatory pre-bid conference and site visit on May 12, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. EST.

The scope covers surface preparation, containment systems, interior and exterior painting, equipment installation, and repairs across three tanks: the Summit Hill Water Tower (80,000-gallon double ellipse elevated tank), Forrest Farms (8,000-gallon hydropneumatic tank), and Laurel Ridge (10,000-gallon hydropneumatic tank). Repair work includes manway modifications, balcony railing modifications, platform installations, and concrete and steel coating applications. Contractors must demonstrate financial integrity and responsibility, maintain proper insurance and indemnification, comply with OSHA and Maryland occupational safety regulations, and employ competent and skilled personnel. Proof of experience on similar projects is required.

Bids must be net, all-inclusive, and fully prepaid to destination, submitted as one original and one copy in sealed envelopes clearly marked with the project title and contract number 26-01-F. The Commission is exempt from Maryland sales and use tax except where contractors furnish and install materials in construction or improvement of real property, in which case contractors must pay Maryland sales tax. Bid prices must remain binding for a minimum of 120 days from the opening date.

The Commission may award based on factors other than lowest cost and reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Upon satisfactory performance of the initial contract term, the Commission may offer the contractor three additional one-year extension periods if scope remains unchanged, with equitable price adjustments limited to the most recent six-month average of the Consumer Price Index. The deadline for submitting written questions is May 19, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. EST. Sealed bids will be publicly opened and read immediately following the June 2 deadline.
