About this opportunity
The City of Hoschton in Jasper County, Georgia, is seeking bids for the Water Distribution System Improvements Phase II project, a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade involving the installation of approximately 6,170 linear feet of 12-inch waterline and 545 linear feet of 8-inch waterline. The procurement process requires sealed bids to be submitted to Hoschton City Hall by 2:00 p.m. on May 6, 2025, with bids to be publicly opened and read aloud at that time. Key project deliverables include abandonment of existing waterlines, reconnections to existing waterlines, meter reconnections, installation of fire hydrants, valves, and associated appurtenances. The project is expected to be completed within 180 consecutive calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, with the contract to be awarded within 60 days of the bid opening. Bidders must submit a bid bond or certified cashier's check for 5% of the total bid amount, and the Prime Contractor must perform at least 30% of the contract value. Technical and purchasing questions can be directed to Jessica James or Greg Bennett at Engineering Management Inc. at 770-962-1387.
The solicitation does not explicitly mention specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Bidders are required to provide comprehensive insurance coverage, including workers' compensation insurance, and performance and payment bonds for 100% of the total bid amount. The City has already acquired all necessary State and Federal permits, which may simplify the procurement process for potential contractors. While a specific budget range is not disclosed, interested parties can obtain complete contract documents from Engineering Management, Inc. for a non-refundable fee of $200.00. The procurement allows the Owner to reserve the right to waive informalities or reject any bids, providing flexibility in the selection process. Potential bidders must comply with all federal, state, and local laws, and the project documentation can be accessed through the City of Hoschton's website or the consulting engineer's website for detailed review and preparation.
