About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is pursuing a single-source procurement for the Veterinary Medical Research & Development (VMRD) division, specifically for specialized laboratory supplies and fixtures. The procurement includes USDA-licensed Babesia Caballi and Babesia equi Antibody Test kits and Prion Protein MAb Cell Culture Supermate, which are critical for the Division of Animal Industry's statutory responsibilities of testing, controlling, and eradicating livestock diseases. This procurement is being conducted under Sections 120.57(3) and 287.057(3) of Florida Statutes, with a contract term from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The solicitation was posted on May 23, 2025, with a final date for receipt of information set for June 16, 2025. Prospective vendors who believe they can provide these commodities or services are required to submit relevant information to the designated contact person by the specified deadline, with the department reserving the right to review and determine single-source justification.
This procurement appears to be a direct, non-competitive acquisition specifically targeting VMRD as the sole manufacturer and supplier of the required laboratory supplies. The estimated dollar amount for this single-source procurement is up to $65,000.00, with an approximate contract amount of $38,000.00. No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises are mentioned in the documentation. The procurement is focused on obtaining highly specialized scientific equipment and test kits that are uniquely manufactured by VMRD, with no indication of alternative vendors or competitive bidding processes. The contract is primarily located in Leon County, Florida, and is directly tied to the state's animal disease control and research infrastructure. The procurement process allows for potential vendors to submit information challenging the single-source designation, but the documentation strongly suggests that VMRD is the preferred and likely sole provider of these specific scientific research materials.
