About this opportunity
The University of West Georgia is requesting proposals to supply and install one networked virtual reality room at its Carrollton campus, with proposals due August 31, 2022. The procurement is issued under Georgia's State Purchasing Act (OCGA 50-5-50 et seq.).
The scope requires a VR system accommodating simultaneous use by at least six people in a shared physical space, with a library of interactive experiences for internal and external community access. The system must enable UWG students and faculty to design, develop, and publish custom VR experiences playable on the installation and distributable to external sites. Software and 3D modeling must rely on industry-standard tools—Maya, 3DSmax, Unity, or equivalent—rather than proprietary platforms to reduce student friction. The system must deliver 3D graphics, audio, and haptic feedback, all fully networked across multiple sites. The installation must support research capabilities including rapid prototyping, session recording, and playback for analysis.
The contract term is one year with four optional one-year renewals, beginning upon award. No estimated contract value, incumbent information, evaluation criteria, question deadline, or pre-proposal meeting is identified in the source material.
Opportunity text
Purpose of Procurement Pursuant to the State Purchasing Act (Official Code of Georgia Annotated 50-5-50 et seq.), this electronic Request for Proposals (eRFP) is being issued to establish a contract with a qualified supplier who will provide a Virtual Reality Room to the University of West Georgia (the State Entity) as further described in this eRFP. The University of West Georgia is soliciting proposals from suppliers to establish a contract with one (1) Supplier to supply and install (1) virtual reality room at the University of West Georgia Carrollton campus. The Virtual Reality room must be a networked Virtual Reality experience that can accommodate simultaneous usage of at least 6 people in a shared physical space (room). This experience/space must provide a library of interactive VR experiences that can be used for entertainment for UWG internal and external community members. To increase student experiences and opportunities, this partner and software must allow for the design, development, and publishing of VR experiences created by UWG students and faculty. These experiences must be playable on the VR system and also capable of being distributed to other sites beyond the UWG campus. The software and 3D modeling requirements should not require UWG to use proprietary tools but rather utilize industry standard tools such as Maya/3DSmax/Unity/etc. so that UWG students can most easily define VR experiences. This VR experience must enable research in VR experiences with rapid prototyping and recording of sessions for later playback and analysis. The VR experience must provide 3d graphics. audio, and haptic feedback, and all of this must be fully networked across any number of sites. The intent is for the contract to start once awarded for one (1) year with four (4) optional one (1) year renewals.
