About this opportunity
The University of Georgia is requesting proposals for a study room occupancy system for the Miller Learning Center under an electronic RFP with proposals due December 22, 2021.
The scope covers technology to determine and display real-time occupancy status across 94 group study rooms located on floors 2, 3, and 4 of the Miller Learning Center on the Athens campus. The rooms vary in size between approximately 150 and 250 square feet, each furnished with one table (6–10 chairs) and one whiteboard. The system must address the operational challenge of students spending excessive time locating available rooms by providing current occupancy visibility across all 94 spaces.
The Miller Learning Center is managed collaboratively by the University Libraries, Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS), and the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). The awardee will integrate with this multi-department management structure. The procurement is issued under the State Purchasing Act (Official Code of Georgia Annotated 50-5-50 et seq.).
Opportunity text
Purpose of Procurement Pursuant to the State Purchasing Act (Official Code of Georgia Annotated 50-5-50 et seq.), this electronic Request for Proposals (eRFP) is being issued to establish a contract with a qualified supplier who will provide UGA Miller Learning Center Study Room Occupancy System to the University of Georgia (the State Entity) as further described in this eRFP. The Miller Learning Center (MLC) is a multi-use facility located on the University of Georgia Athens Campus. Management of the MLC is a collaborative effort of the University Libraries, Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS), and the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). The focus of this project is on the 94 group study rooms contained within the MLC. These group study rooms are located on floors 2, 3, and 4. These rooms are suitable for small group study. Each room contains one (1) table with 6-10 chairs and one (1) whiteboard. Group study room dimensions are not all standard but are generally between 150 and 250 square feet, 2 solid walls, 1 wall with/without window, and 1 glass wall with entry door. Due to the scale of this building, it can take a lengthy amount of time for students to find an unoccupied group study room. The purpose of this project is to identify and implement technology to determine and display real-time occupancy of the 94 group study rooms.
