About this opportunity

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select consultants to provide Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) services from California-licensed Fire Protection Engineers for various non-specific UCLA projects. The scope of services may include site surveys of existing conditions and systems, conceptual design, alarm system analysis, development and review of hazardous material inventory statements, peer review and code consulting regarding compliance with applicable regulations, and other FPE-related tasks. FPE consultant candidates must demonstrate expertise in analyzing existing systems, preparing concept FPE solutions, and working with varying levels of information and scope. The selected FPE consultants will work under a Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with UCLA for up to four years, with specific assignments authorized as needed. UCLA will select two FPE firms to perform the work.

The aggregate fees for the FPE services are anticipated to range from $500,000 to $1,000,000 over the PSA term, though the selection of a consultant does not guarantee that level of fees will be expended. There may be separate selections for large projects or instances where other firms will perform small projects requiring special knowledge, skills, equipment, or availability. The RFQ responses are due by May 3, 2024, and a screening committee will determine a shortlist of firms for further consideration by the selection committee.
