About this opportunity
UCLA is seeking a Landscape Architect through a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process to lead a consultant team for the renovation of the Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden Amphitheater located at 707 Tiverton Drive on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles County. The procurement involves selecting a prime Landscape Architect and their associated sub-consultants to redesign and upgrade the 7.5-acre botanical garden's amphitheater facility, which serves dual purposes as both an educational teaching space and event venue. Key deliverables and project improvements include enhanced ADA accessibility, increased seating capacity with poured concrete construction featuring wood seat tops and backs, improved drainage systems, electrical infrastructure for lighting and outlets, decomposed granite (DG) walkways, retaining walls, a stage structure, and acoustic enhancements to support the garden's mission of promoting botanical knowledge and environmental appreciation. The estimated construction budget is $1.6 million, though the scope may be phased or prioritized based on available funding. The RFQ was posted on January 20, 2026, with a response due date of February 10, 2026. Selection will be contingent upon University of California Board of Regents approval and compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), with the selection committee evaluating proposals based on identified selection criteria related to the consultant team's qualifications and relevant experience.
The available documentation does not specify set-aside designations for disadvantaged business enterprises, minority-owned firms, women-owned enterprises, or other socioeconomic classifications that may apply to this procurement. No incumbent vendors, current contractors, or existing infrastructure integration requirements are identified in the provided opportunity information. The estimated construction cost of $1.6 million represents the anticipated budget range for the project implementation; however, actual award values and consultant fees are not explicitly stated in the available materials. Interested firms should note that project implementation is dependent on funding availability and Board of Regents approval, which may affect the timeline and scope of work ultimately awarded.
