About this opportunity
The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Purchasing Services is seeking bids for a tunable, continuous-wave Ti:Sa laser system for the Department of Engineering Physics. The procurement is a Request for Bid (RFB) for a single laser system unit with specific technical requirements, including 1 W output at peak wavelength and absolute linewidth specifications. Potential bidders must submit sealed bids by 2:00 p.m. CDT on July 18, 2019, to the Purchasing Services office located at 21 N. Park Street, Suite 6101 in Madison, Wisconsin. Written questions from bidders are due by July 15, 2019, and the desired delivery date is on or before November 15, 2019, to 1500 Engineering Drive. The University reserves the right to require oral presentations, product demonstrations, and site visits at its discretion prior to awarding the contract. Evaluation criteria include lowest extended net total bid, potential consideration of life cycle costs, and delivery timeliness, with the ultimate goal of selecting a bid deemed in the best interest of the University.
Bidders must be original manufacturers, authorized distributors, or manufacturer-authorized dealers with a minimum of five years of laser systems experience and demonstrated service and repair capabilities. The procurement includes set-aside preferences for Certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (DVB), which may receive consideration if submitting qualified bids within 5% of the apparent low bid. The successful contractor must provide the manufacturer's standard warranty, maintain insurance with the Board of Regents listed as an additional insured, offer on-site service with parts availability within five days, and comply with all University delivery, installation, testing, and maintenance requirements. While a specific budget range is not disclosed, the procurement specifies that pricing must be submitted as a net unit price with extended net total in U.S. dollars, F.O.B. Destination Installed, inclusive of all delivery charges, installation, packing, freight, insurance, setup, and instruction materials, with the exception of import/export costs.
