About this opportunity

Lake Tahoe Community College District is soliciting sealed bids for the Trout Creek Conifer Removal Project (Bid No. 26-27-003) in South Lake Tahoe, California, with bids due November 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. via PlanetBids, and a mandatory pre-bid site visit on October 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Bidders must hold a Type A Licensed Timber Operator certification and be registered as public works contractors with California's Department of Industrial Relations — the principal capability filters.

The scope is 100% conifer removal from a meadow environment adjacent to Trout Creek through hand and mechanized thinning, with compliance to regional environmental regulations. The contractor must cut logs greater than 4 inches in diameter at the small end into 10–18 foot lengths for delivery to a landing, where the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California will deck and haul them for beneficial reuse as firewood. The contractor bears full responsibility for removal, processing, chipping, and disposal of limbs, slash, and woody material less than 4 inches in diameter, plus all site protection.

The bid structure includes a base bid for the primary meadow site and three additive alternates (2 acres, 2.5 acres, and 6 acres). The district will select alternates to maximize acres treated within the project budget using blind-bidder selection. A 10 percent bid bond is required; the successful bidder must submit 100 percent performance and payment bonds within seven calendar days of Notice of Award. All workers must receive prevailing wage rates determined by the California Department of Industrial Relations. Bidders must provide hourly rates for foreman, journeyman, and apprentice classifications for any time-and-material work. Compliance is required with prevailing wage, workers' compensation, drug-free workplace, tobacco-free environment, hazardous materials, and lead-based materials certifications under California public works law. Questions are due October 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.; addendum responses will be posted by October 29, 2026. Award is anticipated November 11, 2026; construction is scheduled September 1 through October 15, 2027.
