About this opportunity

The Town of Long Lake in Hamilton County, New York, is seeking a contractor for tree debris removal and disposal through an Invitation for Bids (IFB) under Contract 25-001, supported by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program. The project involves removing, chipping, and hauling approximately 135 trees (95 trees between 8-18 inches in diameter and 40 trees less than 8 inches in diameter) from the waters and shores of Shaw Brook, located at 1150 Main Street in Long Lake. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for May 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with bid proposals due by 3:00 PM on May 23, 2025, and the contract expected to be awarded on May 28, 2025. The Town of Long Lake will provide a disposal site for wood chips and handle permit acquisitions, while the project involves collaboration between the Town of Long Lake, Long Lake Highway Department, Hamilton County Department of Public Works, and Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District. Contractors must submit a complete bid package, including a non-collusive bidding certificate and bid form, and comply with prevailing wage requirements and insurance specifications. The successful bidder will be selected as the lowest, responsive, and responsible bidder demonstrating the necessary skill, ability, and integrity to perform the work.

There are no specific set-aside designations for this contract, with the solicitation explicitly stating "Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Set Aside: No". No incumbent vendors or existing contractors have been identified for this project, and the procurement does not mention any specific integration requirements with existing infrastructure or technology. The contract term is specified as two months, and while no specific budget range is provided, the project is fully funded through the USDA NRCS Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program. The project stems from a flood event in July 2023 and aims to remove debris from Shaw Brook, indicating an environmental restoration and flood mitigation purpose. Potential bidders will need to demonstrate technical capabilities in tree removal, chipping, and hauling, with the ability to work within a specific geographic location and timeframe. The collaborative nature of the project, involving multiple local and federal agencies, suggests a comprehensive approach to watershed management and emergency response.
