About this opportunity

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has issued an Invitation for Bid (IFB #03A3910) for trash collection, hauling, and disposal services specifically for the Kyburz Maintenance Station located in El Dorado County. The procurement requires a contractor to provide one 6 cubic yard trash bin with weekly pickup, including all necessary labor, equipment, travel, and incidental costs associated with trash management services. Contractors must possess a current and valid California Motor Carrier Permit and be prepared to perform services during normal working hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with potential emergency service requirements outside standard hours. The bid submission deadline is February 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. PT, with bid opening scheduled for 2:30 p.m. PT the same day. The anticipated contract term spans from February 28, 2025, through February 27, 2028, with a comprehensive scope of services that includes handling all disposal fees, taxes, and associated operational expenses.

While no mandatory Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation is required, the state offers a 5% incentive for 100% DVBE participation and maintains a 25% Small Business participation goal. Certified Small Business or Micro Business contractors are eligible to receive a 5% bid preference. Bidders must submit several mandatory documents, including a bid proposal, bidder certification sheet, a copy of their Motor Carrier Permit, GenAI reporting factsheet, and Darfur Contracting Act certification. Though specific budget ranges are not explicitly detailed in the solicitation, the contract represents a targeted procurement for ongoing maintenance and waste management services at a specific state maintenance facility. Interested vendors should note that while the opportunity is open to various businesses, compliance with state certification requirements and submission of all required documentation will be critical to a successful bid.
